30 or 50 minutes? Choosing secure dog field hire in Yeovil

Updated: 4 days ago

A 30-minute secure dog field session can suit a short visit with one or two simple activities. A 50-minute session gives you more room in the schedule for exploration, pauses and a few short games. Choose the booking around what your dog enjoys, and leave time within your slot to collect belongings and exit calmly.

Green outdoor paddocks and fencing at Paws n Klaws near Yeovil, Somerset

At Paws n Klaws on Limington Road, Yeovil, Somerset BA22 8LX, field hire means exclusive use of your allocated paddock for owner-supervised exercise and play. Our countryside facility covers approximately three acres, divided into different areas: a paddock booking does not give you exclusive use of the entire site.

When could a 30-minute session work well?

A shorter booking can be a useful option when you want a manageable first visit, a change from your usual walking route or a little time to practise an easy skill. Arrive with one clear idea rather than a long list of activities. Your dog might prefer to spend most of the visit exploring the paddock with you.

For example, you could allow about five minutes to settle and check the space, ten minutes for relaxed exploration, five minutes for a familiar game and the final ten minutes for a pause, a gentle wander and an organised departure. This is an example of how to divide the booking, not a target your dog has to meet.

When might 50 minutes be a better choice?

A longer session may suit an owner who wants to move at a slower pace, include more breaks or try a couple of different activities. The extra time can help when you want to combine sniffing, some recall practice and a quiet finish without feeling rushed.

A 50-minute booking does not mean your dog should run for 50 minutes. You can spend part of it walking together, watching the surroundings or resting. Keep the visit flexible: the amount of activity should suit your dog and the conditions on the day.

For activity ideas, read our five recall and enrichment games for a secure dog field. If busy walking areas are difficult for your dog, our guide to visiting with a nervous or reactive dog explains what to discuss before booking.

What should you check before choosing your slot?

  • Check your exact start and finish time, your allocated paddock, the number of attending dogs, the parking and gate instructions, and the individual session price and cancellation conditions.

Let the team know if your dog climbs, digs, is very small or reacts to nearby dogs or people. We can discuss the current setup before you make plans. A secure field still needs suitable management; fencing alone cannot make every visit appropriate for every dog.

How much does secure field hire cost?

Our individual field-hire sessions cost £5 for 30 minutes and £8 for 50 minutes. There is no extra charge for additional dogs included in your reservation. Select the suitable available slot through our website.

Questions about choosing a field session

Where is Paws n Klaws secure dog field hire?

We are on Limington Road, Yeovil, Somerset BA22 8LX. Confirm arrival and parking instructions with your booking so you can go directly to the correct area.

Is a longer booking always better?

No. Choose the time you can use comfortably. A shorter visit with a clear plan may work well; a longer slot can make space for pauses. You can finish an activity early if your dog has had enough.

Can I bring dogs from another household?

Ask the team before booking so the number of dogs, suitability and session conditions can be confirmed. Only bring dogs you can supervise appropriately together. Additional dogs do not carry an extra field-hire charge: the price is for your slot.

Will there be other dogs on the site?

Your allocated paddock is for your booking, but Paws n Klaws also provides other pet-care services. Ask about nearby paddocks and changeovers if your dog needs extra space.
