A day at our dog hotel: play, socialise and rest
Updated: 5 days ago
A boarding stay at Paws n Klaws is about the whole day: time to play, company to enjoy and room to relax. Our social dog hotel near Yeovil brings a home-from-home feel to a spacious, approximately three-acre setting, with staff supervising daytime care.
Our 5-star licensed facility has secure indoor and outdoor areas for exercise, enrichment, socialising and rest, as well as overnight rooms. Here is how those parts of a boarding day fit together.
Morning: a handover and time to settle
New arrivals come in during the agreed boarding drop-off window of 07:00–09:00. We ask you to share any changes to your dog's routine, feeding instructions or care needs, even if they have stayed before.
Dogs already boarding continue with their agreed care routine. The start of the day is about meeting those everyday needs and getting ready for suitable activity and company.
A clear handover helps us understand the individual dog. Your Time To Pet profile should contain current care details, and our packing and handover checklist helps you prepare.
Outdoor time: exploring, playing and socialising
Our secure outdoor spaces give dogs room to move, explore and enjoy supervised social time. That can mean lively play for one dog and a quieter wander with company for another.
Group care is planned around compatibility. We consider temperament, behaviour, size, play style and energy levels, using the Meet & Greet and ongoing observations to guide which dogs spend time together.
Having a large site does not mean putting every dog into one big group. The space supports different activities and needs within a managed social environment.
Indoor time: company at a different pace
The day also makes use of our indoor facilities. Indoor and outdoor time gives dogs different settings for socialising, enrichment and settling, with the balance adjusted to the weather and the dogs attending.
Socialising is more than running around. A dog can spend time near others, interact with the team or settle after activity. Those quieter moments are part of the home-from-home experience too.
Our social dog boarding guide explains how this approach differs from a stay centred mainly on an individual kennel.
Rest breaks: an essential part of the day
Activity is balanced with appropriate periods of rest. Dogs have opportunities to settle between exercise and social time, rather than being encouraged to keep playing for hours.
The team takes individual needs into account. A dog who enjoys an energetic game and one who prefers a gentler pace should not be expected to spend their day in exactly the same way.
Tell us about your dog's normal habits, including what helps them relax. Discuss any additional support before booking so we can confirm whether our setting can meet their needs.
Meals and individual care throughout the stay
Feeding and any agreed additional care follow the instructions you provide. Bring clear information about food, portions and routines, and discuss medication or other requirements with us before the stay.
Supervision and observation continue throughout daytime care. How dogs are getting on with their surroundings and companions matters just as much as the activity on offer.
There is no single rigid activity timetable for every guest. Weather, group compatibility and individual needs influence how play, indoor time, meals and rest fit together.
Evening: settling into overnight accommodation
As daytime activities draw to a close, boarding dogs settle into their overnight rooms. Individual rooms are available, with shared accommodation for dogs from the same household where appropriate and agreed.
The overnight room is one part of the stay. The social daytime experience gives dogs company, interest and restful breaks before bedtime.
Questions about our boarding routine
Is daytime care included in boarding?
Yes. Our standard £59 nightly boarding rate includes daytime care. See the dog hotel page for current longer-stay discounts and additional collection-day charges.
Are dogs supervised during play and social time?
Yes. Play, socialising and rest form part of our supervised daytime care. Groups are managed according to compatibility and individual needs.
Does my dog need to enjoy other dogs?
Dogs joining group care need to be suitable for that social environment. A successful, pre-booked Meet & Greet is required before a new dog boards. Read our first-visit guide to prepare.
Meet the team and plan a stay
Book your free Meet & Greet online. Choose an available weekday appointment and complete the required acknowledgements.
